Box Score Colorado Christian baseball embarked on their final road trip of the season, driving 10 hours to St. George, Utah, to take on the Trailblazers of Dixie State. The Cougars took to the field in the shadow of Zion National Park but were unable to challenge the Trailblazers in the first of four games, losing by a score of 4-12.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
The first inning was not exactly the start CCU was looking for to begin the series against a foe who has spent much of the season ranked nationally. The Cougars opened up the top of the 1st inning getting sat back down in order while the Trailblazers scored six runs before recording an out, and eight in total before the inning was over. DSU would tack on a single run in the next three innings, as well as one more in the bottom of the 7th. The Cougar bats would come around later in the game, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the 7th and 8th innings,
 
Catcher Joel Manzano looked to be back in his early season offensive form, going 3-4 from the plate and scoring a run. Connor Marschall was the only other Cougar with multiple hits, going 2-4 with a run and an RBI. Heath Hays and Matt Kimura each recorded a hit that resulted in an RBI.
 
WHAT IS NEXT:
 
The teams are scheduled to play a pair of 7-inning games tomorrow, with the first game starting at 2:00 p.m., followed by the second which is tentatively slated for 5:00 p.m.
