Pierantoni, King Earn RMAC's Weekly Honor

LAKEWOOD, CO – After a weekend for the school record books, a pair of Colorado Christian runners were honored by the RMAC as the program opened the campaign.

Josh Pierantoni and Shannon King were named the RMAC Male and Female Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, for their performances at the Crimson and Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State.

Pierantoni won the 3000 meter race with a time of 8:16.48 which outdistanced the second place finisher by just over two seconds. His time is currently the fourth fastest among NCAA Division II runners and is an NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time.

In her first race in a Cougar uniform, the UNLV transfer made her presence known. King won the 800 meter event by crossing the finish line in 2:15.69 which bettered the competition by over three seconds. Her time surpassed the school record that Hannah Struttman set in 2017 (2:22.32). It is the second quickest time in the nation so far this season.

For King, she is the first Colorado Christian track and field athlete to earn the conference's weekly accolade. Pierantoni is the first male Colorado Christian runner to earn the weekly award since current assistant coach Evan Verbal turned the trick in Dec., 2017.
