LAKEWOOD, CO - The Cougars ended in a draw against Western Colorado after an intense game with numerous scoring opportunities that neither team capitalized on.
HOW IT HAPPENED - Colorado Christian and Western Colorado both started off the game somewhat frantic. The Mountaineers managed to keep more of the possession in the first half. They had four shots as opposed to the Cougars three.
Colorado Christian received a penalty kick in the first half due to a hand ball on the Mountaineers.
Capri Dewing took the shot and hit the ball wide. That did not stop her from have three more shots before halftime and was the only player to have any shots in that half.
Coming into the second half, The Cougars had several opportunities to score. They were able to fire nine shots and Western notched eight shots.
Goalkeeper Ireland Van Dyke was able to keep the team in the game by saving a penalty kick in the second half keeping her shutout. Van Dyke and the defensive line are the reason Colorado Christian was able to come away with a tie in this match. Van Dyke,

Going into the first half of overtime,
Celeste Ruelas had a break away to a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Ruelas placed the ball to the lower back corner, and the Mountaineer's goalkeeper had an impressive save to keep the shutout for Western. There were not many more opportunities for either team the rest of overtime resulting in the 0-0 tie.
