GOLDEN, CO - The Cougars finished the match falling to a 1-0 loss against the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers.
HOW IT HAPPENED - The Orediggers were ready to play right away in the first half. Forward, Emi Higgins, scored in the 13th minute of the game off a cross and fired a shot to the near post of the goal.
In the 18th minute, Colorado School of Mines had a corner and a forward blasted a ball to the bottom left corner where sophomore
Taya Starnes was there to save the shot and keep the Cougars in the game.
The Cougars did not stop fighting coming out strong and offensively heavy in the second half.
The defense refused to allow another goal and kept the Orediggers out the their defensive half.
Linnea Mosvold headed the ball off the goal line to prevent another Oredigger goal after Ireland Van Dyke had misread the play. The back line kept them in the game.
In addition to the back line, Van Dyke came up big with crucial saves to keep the game close in score. She faced 25 shots and saved 10 shots
