Nationally Ranked Opponents -Â
Colorado Christian has not played a non-conference nationally ranked team since 2018 when they played Northwest Nazarene (Nov.16), losing 80-75.Â
In the 2019-2020 season they matched up against three nationally ranked teams throughout the season. During that time they played #17 Westminster (Jan.18), #25 Colorado Mesa (Feb.1) and #19 Colorado Mesa again just two weeks later (Feb. 14).Â
This past weekend the Cougars competed with national champions #1 Lubbock Christian and #10 Texas A&M Commerce. #1 Lubbock Christian went undefeated last year and were able to defeat Colorado Christian 46-60. However, CSU Pueblo stripped away Lubbock Christian's winning streak when they ended the game 64-56 on the Cougars home court.Â
Colorado Christian gave Texas A&M Commerce a tough win. They were neck and neck for the majority of the game but the Lions ended up coming out with the 83-74 win.Â
Trip to the Sunshine State
The first time in program history the women's basketball team will make a trip to the sunshine state.
Road Opener
In the last 10 years the Cougars have won one road opener. That win came in 2012 against Chadron State with a 106-68 victory (Nov.16).

Colorado Christian started the season with a tough opponent, national champions #1 Lubbock Christian. Transfer from University of Delaware,
Agnes Paul, led the team with 12 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal during their match against Lubbock Christian. Senior returner
Lourdes Gonzalez, followed Paul with eight points and four rebounds.Â
After their 60-46 loss to the Lady Chaps, they came out with a winning mentality against #10 Texas A&M Commerce. Although their upset attempt ended in a 74-83 loss, the Cougars displayed some fresh talent with their transfers.
Jordyn Brown had registered 21 points and tallied five three-pointers. Paul played racked up another 12 points against the Lions with five rebounds. Transfer from Regis University,
Haley Hanson, notched 11 points and three three-pointers.Â
Preseason Poll
The Cougars were voted to finish in the tenth slot in the RMAC preseason poll. Colorado School of Mines is predicted to finish in the first spot, tallying 11 first place votes.

Head Coach - Diane Thompson
Thompson brings a wealth of knowledge to the Cougars program. A well know coach along the Front Range Thompson has experienced a wide range of success during coaching tenure.
Most recently she has served as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team at Regis University. During her two seasons with the Rangers program she played a key role in the squad's recruiting; including the RMAC's co-Freshman of the Year, Erin Fry.Â
Prior to her role at Regis, Thompson was the women's basketball head coach at Dakota Ridge High School. Â During her four years, she achieved a pair of state Sweet 16 appearances and help coach four of her players to compete at the collegiate level.Â
She is no stranger to the RMAC as she has coached at three different conference programs. Along with her time spent with Regis, Thompson was the Associate Head Coach for the Women's Basketball Program at CSU-Pueblo (2005-2007), where she organized player development along with scouting and recruiting for a team that received an NCAA tournament bid in the 2005-06 season.Â
Thompson also has coached for Fort Lewis (2004-2005), and MSU Denver (2003-2004). In both coaching roles she played a pivotal in recruiting game changers to the programs and worked in player commitment and fundraising for the teams.Â
In addition to her professional coaching experience, she spent several years working in the private sector in the Denver area.Â
As a player, was a three time All-American, a three-year captain, three year All-Conference player and set several school records in her time at Cal State Bakersfield (2000-2003). As part of the team, Thompson helped lead the Roadrunners to two conference championships and an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance. Â
"It is a blessing to become a part of the Cougar family. Â I am here to make us believe we are destined to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Â You might not bet on us now but never bet against us," Thompson said.Â
Thompson earned her Bachelors Degree in Exercise and Kinesiology. She completed her Masters Degree from Regis in Business Organization and Leadership.
