Head Coach - Diane Thompson

Thompson brings a wealth of knowledge to the Cougars program. A well know coach along the Front Range Thompson has experienced a wide range of success during coaching tenure.

Most recently she has served as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team at Regis University. During her two seasons with the Rangers program she played a key role in the squad's recruiting; including the RMAC's co-Freshman of the Year, Erin Fry.

Prior to her role at Regis, Thompson was the women's basketball head coach at Dakota Ridge High School.  During her four years, she achieved a pair of state Sweet 16 appearances and help coach four of her players to compete at the collegiate level.

She is no stranger to the RMAC as she has coached at three different conference programs. Along with her time spent with Regis, Thompson was the Associate Head Coach for the Women's Basketball Program at CSU-Pueblo (2005-2007), where she organized player development along with scouting and recruiting for a team that received an NCAA tournament bid in the 2005-06 season.

Thompson also has coached for Fort Lewis (2004-2005), and MSU Denver (2003-2004). In both coaching roles she played a pivotal in recruiting game changers to the programs and worked in player commitment and fundraising for the teams.

In addition to her professional coaching experience, she spent several years working in the private sector in the Denver area.

As a player, was a three time All-American, a three-year captain, three year All-Conference player and set several school records in her time at Cal State Bakersfield (2000-2003). As part of the team, Thompson helped lead the Roadrunners to two conference championships and an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance.

"It is a blessing to become a part of the Cougar family.  I am here to make us believe we are destined to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.  You might not bet on us now but never bet against us," Thompson said.

Thompson earned her Bachelors Degree in Exercise and Kinesiology. She completed her Masters Degree from Regis in Business Organization and Leadership.
