LAKEWOOD, CO – Colorado Christian welcomes two new athletes to the team for the 2021-22 season.
First year Head Coach Diane Thompson secures her first two recruits of her tenure with the Cougars bringing in a junior transfer and a graduate transfer that will strengthen an exciting, young Cougars team.
SYDNEY DANIELS – Daniels is a guard transfer from fellow RMAC school Regis University. Daniels averaged 16.5 minutes per game and 2.6 points per game her freshman year and in her sophomore year she averaged 5.8 minutes per game and played in 13 games
A local to Colorado, Daniels went to Dakota Ridge high school where she played three sports and lettered in basketball and track. Daniels was a three-time team MVP, three time first team all-conference, and two-time all-state honorable mention. A biology major, Daniels plans on being a Physician's Assistant after graduation.
Head Coach Thompson had this to say about Daniels; "Daniels brings grit to the CCU program that is hard to find! Her tenacious defense and energy is contagious and will lift the program to high expectations on the defense side! I will be anxious to see how many sprints she loses in practice, I bet it's less than 10 all year!"
MEGAN KAMPS – Kamps is a forward who graduated from Southern Utah University. In her three seasons with the Thunderbirds Kamps averaged 2.9 points per game on 42.8% field goal shooting while averaging 13.5 minutes per game including averaging 17.4 minutes per game in the 2018-19 season
Kamps attended Manhattan Christian High School where she was a three sport athlete in Basketball, Track, and Volleyball. In basketball Kamps average 13.6 points per game and graduated with 1,017 points which is eighth all time for the school. In track she was fourth in shot put with a throw of 33'9.75". In volleyball Kamps finished her time at Manhattan Christian first in kills and digs, tenth in blocks and fourth in aces. Kamps will be receiving her Master's degree at Colorado Christian in Organizational Leadership.
Head Coach Thompson had this to say about Kamps; "Kamps is an inside presence that CCU was lacking all season! This addition to the program brings toughness inside on both ends of the court that will be irreplaceable! With a high IQ of the game, she understands how to seal and use her frame making her presence known!"
