GOODYEAR, AZ – A talented laden field awaited the Cougars men's golf team at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic.
Playing with some of the best teams in the NCAA West/South Central Super Region, Colorado Christian placed 10th with a three round total of 886 (+22).
Mason Richter was the best individual competitor for the Cougars as he fired a four-under par 213 to place ninth.
ROUND ONE RECAP: After the first 18 holes the Cougars were tied for 11th after registering a round of 293 (+5). In a tightly bunched field they were within a handful of strokes of a top five placing.
Mason Richter led the charge as the freshman became the third Colorado Christian golfer this season to shoot a 68 (-4). He registered a team best five birdies with just one bogey after the initial 18 holes. Zach Slayton was right with him as fired a one-over par 73.
Dylan Arthur and Johnny Gleason each recorded a round of 76 (+4) while Sam Nolley's 82 (+10) completed the scoring competitors for the squad.
Competing as an individual Jack Curran notched a round of 80 (+8).
ROUND TWO RECAP: The second 18 holes saw each Colorado Christian competitor shoot a round in the 70s as they tallied a 296 (+8).
Nolly's two-under par round of 70 was the best effort as he recorded four birdies and an eagle to aid in his best round of the season. Richter continued his strong effort as he went even-par 72 with a three birdie round.
Arthur and Gleason continued to mirror one another as both golfers shot a 77 (+5) while Slayton was just one stroke off their efforts.
Curran registered a 74 (+2) with a pair of birdies and an eagle.
FINAL ROUND RECAP: The Cougars nearly turned the round-of-70 trick on back-to-back days. Five of the six Colorado Christian golfers played in the 70s as the team fired a final 18 hole total of 297 (+9).
Richter finished the best tournament of his young collegiate tenure by registering a 73 (+1) in his two-birdie, one eagle round. Arthur was one stroke off his teammate in the last round as he notched a 74 (+2) as he recorded four birdies.
Slayton and Gleason each had a three-over par round of 75 while Nolly ended his event by recording a 76.
Curran completed his last 18 holes with an 81 (+9).
