ALAMEDA, CA- The Cougars headed to California March 9-10 as they competed at the Tim Tierney Shootout at Corica Park Golf Course hosted by Cal State East Bay. In an impressive showing, CCU claimed second place overall out of the 18 teams there as they went under par as a team in all three rounds of play.
ROUND ONE
Bradley Mulder led off in the first round with a quality 69 that featured four birdies and an eagle on the par 5 6th hole.
Lance Christensen Jr. and
Tyler Debruyckere followed with 70s as Lance carded 5 birdies and Tyler had 4.
Camron Reddell posted a 73 and
Peyton Jones closed with a 74.
ROUND TWO
Mulder continued to fire away in round two as he carded a 69 with eagles on holes 1 and 18 with three birdies as well. Reddell also fired a 69, posting 8 birdies on his way to a strong round. Three birdies and an eagle led Jones to a 72, while Christensen Jr. shot a 76. Debruyckere posted a 77 to close the second round.
ROUND THREE
Mulder closed strong with a 70 on three birdies and an eagle to claim medalist honors with a third place finish. Christensen Jr. had an excellent close, firing a 68 on four birdies and an eagle to claim 17th. Reddell posted a 74 to take 24th, while Jones finished with a 72 to claim 35th. Debruyckere shot a 74 to close the tournament.
Overall, the Cougars shot a total of 852 (282, 286, 284) to close in second place, just three strokes behind the host and winners Cal State East Bay. It was the strongest team finish of the season as CCU looks to build momentum into the postseason.
