LAKEWOOD, CO- The NCAA announced the field for the Division II West/South Central Regionals, and after steadily gaining momentum all season long, the Cougars will make their fifth straight trip to the tournament with a spot at the National Championships on the line.
A new look team this season for the Cougars saw them place in the top 5 in all four tournaments they competed at in the fall. They continued to improve in the spring, taking third at the Regional preview before a second place finish at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout. The regular season ended on a high as the team claimed a dominant victory.
The team is made up of a strong core with postseason experience as
Peyton Jones and
Bradley Mulder have won a national title and finished runners-up the past two seasons.
Camron Reddell was on the team last year and newcomers
Lance Christensen Jr.,
Todd Tabor and
Tyler Debruyckere make up a strong team that can make a run in the postseason.
It has been a historic past few seasons as the Cougars ascended to the pinnacle of DII golf with a national championship in the 2023-24 season. They nearly went back-to-back, falling a stroke short last season to finish national runners-up. They will look to get another shot at the title as the top 5 teams at Regionals will qualify for the final tournament of the year. This years' championships will be held at a familiar course at Boulder Creek Golf Club, the site of the recent RMAC Championships. The Cougars will aim to be competing there May 18-22 in Nevada.
