STOCKTON, CA- The Cougars kicked off their spring season February 23-24 at the NCAA West/South Central Regional Preview at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton. Led by a pair of top 10 finishes from
Peyton Jones and
Bradley Mulder in his first tournament back at CCU, Colorado Christian finished with a strong showing of third out of the 21 teams competing there.
ROUND ONE
Mulder and
Lance Christensen Jr. each fired a 72 in round one, with Lance carding five birdies. Jones followed with a 74, while
Camron Reddell posted a 76.
Todd Tabor closed the day with an 84.
ROUND TWO
Jones had a fantastic final round, shooting an impressive 67 with eight birdies to tie for 7th at -3 overall. Mulder closed with a 69 on four birdies and an eagle as he tied his teammate in 7th at -3. A 76 from Christensen Jr. gave him a tie for 32nd, while Reddell carded a 73 to tie for 39th. Tabor finished the tournament with a 78 as he tied for 103rd.
Overall, the Cougars shot a 579 (294, 285) to claim third in the competitive tournament. CCU impressed by finishing above Mines in fourth place and Colorado Mesa in eighth as they set themselves up well for the rest of the spring season ahead.
CCU will face a big test with plenty of ranked teams when they head to Boulder Creek Golf Club in Nevada for the Las Vegas Desert Classic March 1-3.
