AIR FORCE ACADEMY – A first place finish as well as personal best marks were the highlights for the Colorado Christian track and field squad at the Air Force Twilight Open.
The Cougars sent a handful of competitors south on I-25 for the late Friday afternoon meet.
Women's Recap
Tessa Hooper won the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:59.06 to outdistance herself from the second place competitor by over six seconds. She beat out a 12-person field which included five runners from NCAA Division I schools.
During the 200 meter race Ramona LeMaster set a personal best time as she crossed the finish line in 26.61 which was the best time among non-NCAA Division I institutions.

Running Events
Tyler Bradley couldn't quite lower his NCAA provisional time in the 200 meter dash as he finished second in the race with a time of 21:42. The sophomore also ran in the 100 meter race as he placed fourth (11.03).
Kyle Gee set his personal best effort in the 1500 meter race. Gee placed sixth in the event as clipped the tape in a time of 4:08.25.
Both Aiden Day and Jacob Vermillion notched a pair of solid time in the 800 meter competition. Day was less than a second away from personal best performance with a time of 1:55.70 while Vermillion registered a time of 1:58.56.
Field Events
Jaxon Hinch tied for the second best height with two other competitors in the high jump. His best effort cleared the bar at 2.00 meters (6 feet, 6.75 inches).
UP NEXT: The Cougars will give one final chance to lower personal best and NCAA qualification marks on Sunday, May 16 when they compete at the Mines Sunday Last Chance in Golden.
