Box Score PUEBLO, CO- The Cougars women's basketball squad headed to CSU Pueblo on Wednesday to make up a contest originally scheduled for December 31. They faced off against a very talented Thunderwolves team, falling 68-42.
HOW IT HAPPENED- The first quarter started slowly for both teams, and the defenses created many turnovers early. The Cougars first three points came from the line, and an Agnes Paul jumper made the score 12-5 Thunderwolves. Jordyn Brown closed the quarter with a jumper to make the scoe 14-7 heading to the second frame.
Christen Curry drilled a jumper, and Tessa Hauser made another basket to make it 22-12 CSU Pueblo. Brown continued a stellar game with another layup, and a Haley Hanson jumper sent the Cougars to the break trailing 32-20.
Lourdes Gonzalez hit a jumper to start the third quarter, but the Thunderwolves offense continued to click and stretch the lead. Sophia Karasinski nailed a three-pointer, but CSU Pueblo took a 15 point lead to the final quarter.
Brown started off the fourth quarter with a three and a layup to cut the deficit to 14. The Thunderwolves closed the game on a run though, taking the win by a score of 68-42.
COUGARS LEADERS:
Jordyn Brown led her team with 17 points and Lourdes Gonzalez snagged seven rebounds. Grace Field paced the Cougars with two assists.
