LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars played for the second straight night at home, taking on Adams State. CCU improved to 8-4 in RMAC play with a decisive sweep of the Grizzlies.
HOW IT HAPPENED- Colorado Christian found themselves in a battle in the first set as the two teams played to a 14-14 tie midway through the set. Renee Phillips gave her team a 23-22 lead, and the score stood at 24 apiece late. An Abigail Newell kill and a Grizzlies error gave the Cougars the set victory 26-24.
A much more dominant effort ensued in the second set as a four-point run made the score 15-12 on a kill from Libby Goodman. Another long run of six points led by Phillips, Goodman and Newell saw the lead grow to 22-14. Newell put things away to finish off the set 25-18.
With a second straight sweep in sight, the Cougars wasted little time in taking a lead. However, ASU battled back to a 12-12 deadlock. With the score at 18 apiece, Lilly Woods came up big with a kill for the 20-18 lead. Two more Woods kills stretched the lead to 24-19, and Newell yet again closed the set along with the sweep 25-21.
