LAKEWOOD, CO- Denver native Julia Trujillo has been hired as the new Assistant Women's Basketball Coach for the Cougars. Trujillo comes to CCU from York University in Nebraska, where she starred as an All-American for the NAIA school before assisting the Panthers coaching staff for a year.
Trujillo brings a wealth of experience as a skilled player at York as she knows what it takes to play at a high level and achieve the highest recognition as an All-American.Â
"Julia's desire to pour into female athletes on and off the court is refreshing to have, with her passion for the game and her walk with the Lord, this team will continue to grow learning from her journey!" Head Coach Diane Thompson said. "Being all American and averaging 20 pts a game at York, she has a hard work ethic that others will follow! Super excited to bring her back home to Colorado where she is from and how driven she will strive to find success in each individual she encounters on the team!!"Â
Trujillo's never quit attitude showed in her play in college ball, and she will look to bring that mentality to the team this season.Â
"Julia is a persistent person with a give it your all mentality!" said Thompson. "She was so driven and focused on what she wants to do and the path the lord has put her on, CCU is a perfect fit!!"
Please welcome Julia Trujillo to CCU Athletics as we gear up for another basketball season and look forward to the impact Julia will have on this program.
