The Colorado Christian women's basketball team will be heading into the final weekend before Christmas with a 6-4 record overall, and 2-2 in RMAC play. Head Coach Diane Thompson has her team playing well as a team, which has been a major factor for the strong start to the season from the Cougars.
Â
CCU will open up the weekend on Friday night December 16
th when they will be traveling down to Colorado Springs to take on UCCS. The Mountain Lions have struggled a bit to begin the year as they will be coming into the game with a 2-8 overall record, and 1-3 in conference play. UCCS has lost seven of their last eight games, with their win coming against Colorado Mesa last week.
Â
UCCS is led on the year in scoring by Amyah Moore Allen who is currently averaging 14.5 PPG, and also leads her team with 14 steals on the year. She has scored over 15 points in each of the last five games. Also scoring in double figures for the Mountain Lions is Maison White who is scoring 11.8 PPG to go along with a team leading 7.7 RPG. She has recorded two straight double-doubles, and four total on the year.
Â
Following their road matchup on Friday night, the Cougars will return home on Saturday night to take on Regis University. Regis will be taking on Chadron State on Friday night, but entering the weekend they currently have a 5-5 record overall, and 2-2 in conference play. Last weekend they lost a close game on Friday night against Westminster 66-65. They followed that up by getting back into the win column as they secured a victory on Saturday night against Colorado Mesa.
Â
The Rangers are led on the year by junior Erin Fry who is averaging 13.7 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and leads the team with 42 assists on the year. The Regis offense rolls through Fry, as she has scored double figures in points in all but one game this year, and she even recorded a triple-double earlier in the year in a game against the University of Texas Permian Basin. Also leading the Rangers is graduate student Erin Stroberg. Stroberg is averaging 10.8PPG along with 7.6 RPG
Â
CCU is one of the most well-rounded teams within the RMAC as evidenced by the fact that they have five players averaging at least nine points per game.
Regan LoConte leads all Cougars as she averages 10.5 PPG, followed by
Tessa Hauser who averages 9.7 PPG.
Victoria Perez averages 9.3 PPG and is the main threat for CCU from beyond the arc as she leads the team with 25 three pointers made on the year.
Dasiya Jones leads the team in minutes played per game with just over 28, and is averaging 9.2 PPG.
Makenna Bodette and
Agnes Paul have also been main contributors on the year as Bodette is averaging 9.1 PPG and leads the team with a shooting percentage of 47.5%. Paul is nearly averaging a double-double as she is at 8.9 PPG and leads the RMAC with 9.1 RPG.
