As the regular season has officially come to a close for the Colorado Christian baseball team and
Wyatt Crenshaw has wrapped up one of the best individual single seasons in the programs history and has cemented his name at the top of the record books for several significant offensive categories. The junior hailing from Gilbert, AZ was instrumental in his drive and determination throughout the year, which led to his success on the field.
Â
Wyatt finished the year hitting a staggering .422 which shattered the previous single season school record for batting average which was .400 by Brett Myatt back in 2009. His 71 RBI on the year also set a new school record as he passed Doug Pavlich who collected 65 RBI in the 2010 season. He surpassed Pavlich in total bases as well for the new record as Crenshaw finished the season with 161 total bases setting him at the top of the record books.
He finished the year with 79 hits which places him tied for second on the all-time list. His output on the year also places in a tie at the top of the records books for doubles with 20, and triples with 7. Crenshaw also slid into the record books with his power as his 16 homeruns on the year place him in second place all-time.
Â
Wyatt Crenshaw had one of the most impressive seasons statistically in all of Division II which is exemplified by the fact that Wyatt led all of DII with a stellar 5.1 WAR. WAR stands for wins above replacement and is defined as the measure of a player's value in all facets of the game by deciphering how many more wins he's worth than a replacement-level player at his same position. The next closest player behind Crenshaw in WAR was only at 4.42, which means that Wyatt has been the most valuable player in the nation at the DII level.
Â
Crenshaw's accomplishments on the field should make him a candidate for postseason accolades which will be announced later in the year. Stay tuned to CCUCougars.com for all of the updates.
