LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars played their second game in as many days on Saturday, hosting the Mountain Lions from UCCS. In a strong performance, Colorado Christian claimed victory in straight sets through a fantastic team performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED- The first set began evenly as the two teams stood level at 12 after an Izzy Jones ace. An eight point run from the Cougars put the set all but out of reach as they gained a 20-15 advantage. Abigail Newell closed things out with a kill for a 25-20 set win.
The Mountain Lions jumped ahead 4-0 early, but Colorado Christian clawed their way back. A Newell ace made it 13-11 Cougars, but things tightened up as UCCS took a late 23-21 lead. Aided by a pair of attack errors and two kills from Libby Goodman, Colorado Christian took the set with a four point run to close it out 25-23.
The Cougars jumped ahead quickly as Lilly Woods and Goodman put down a flurry of kills for a 14-8 advantage. Anna Merrill made it 17-10 with a slam and a late rally from the Mountain Lions fell short as Savannah Overson and Goodman ended things with kills as Colorado Christian claimed the sweep with a 25-18 final set win.
