CCU Preps for Away-Home Weekend Series

LAKEWOOD,CO- Following a dominant victory over Fort Lewis in their last competition, women's basketball will get set for an away matchup at Regis on Friday followed by a home game Saturday evening against UCCS.

The Rangers are on a hot streak lately, coming into this game having won seven straight games. The two teams met at the CCU Event Center on December 17 with the visitors coming out on top 91-84. Regis is led offensively by Erin Fry who is averaging 15.2 points per game, while Josey Ryan puts up 11.2 a game. On the boards, the Rangers are led by Erin Stroberg who pulls down 8.8 rebounds a game while Sam Deem averages 7.3. Fry also leads her team with five assists per game. The game will tipoff in Denver at 5pm MST.

The Mountain Lions are coming off their biggest win of the year over #9 Colorado School of Mines last Saturday, and they will be looking to keep the momentum going as they visit the Cougars. UCCS is led by Maison White who posts 12.5 points per game, while Gracie Haneborg puts up 8.8 points per game. White also leads her team in rebounds with 8.8 per game, while Agar Farres has 4.2 a contest. Sophie Abela facilitates well, dishing out 3.1 assists per contest. The contest will begin at 5pm MST in Lakewood.

Colorado Christian is led by Maggie Phipps, a transfer from Drake University who in just seven games with the team averages 11.9 points per game. Dasiya Jones follows her with 9.5 points a contest. Agnes Paul pulls down 7.7 rebounds a game, and Maggie Hutka snags 5.9 boards on average. Point Guard Nicole Bowlin helps her team with 3.7 assists per matchup while Victoria Perez tallies 3.3 a game.

The competition will be tough this weekend with two teams playing good basketball lately, but a 91 point performance in a win against Fort Lewis should help grow the confidence for CCU as they look to have a strong weekend both on the road and at home against the Rangers and Mountain Lions.
