Who is Tessa Pearce off of the Soccer Field?

 

LAKEWOOD, CO - We had the pleasure of interviewing Colorado Christian women's soccer player Tessa Pearce, a sophomore from Manchester England and transfer from New York's Alliance University. As a new player at CCU, Tessa has already played a total of 109 minutes, but her story expands far off the soccer field. When asking Tessa about her college experience and her expectations for CCU this is what she had to say, "I kind of had no expectations at the start so I did not know what to expect. But playing soccer is not comparable to anything that I am used to at all because there is no team in England that practices everyday like we do here." Tessa also added to her experience that classes at CCU were similar to England. "I would say in terms of classes the layout and class sizes are pretty similar to high school which made it an easy transition."

We also asked her about what she has learned so far from her college experience and how transitioning to a new team was for her. Tessa responded, "I have learned to be more independent and less reliant on my parents as I kind of have no other choice! I have grown a lot with my faith as we have actual classes where you just learn about the Bible." Tessa talked about how her transition to the team was easy with the friendly and welcoming environment the CCU women's soccer team offers and how the team retreat was the place she got to know everyone.

When asking Tessa about her passion for soccer and why she wanted to play she stated, "I have loved soccer since I was young, and it has always been a huge part of my life. My earliest memory of soccer was with friends during lunch and break time in primary school, and I would say that sparked my initial passion to want to play and join a local team."

With Tessa being from England and a transfer from New York, we wanted to ask her about the transition of coming here to Lakewood Colorado. Tessa said, "It has been so much different from New York and New York is so different from Colorado! I would say it was easier to transition to New York as it was a city, which is what I was used to as I grew up in Manchester, and it also had a lot of international students. However, having been in New York for a year and kind of getting a grip of what college life was like, it made it a lot easier to know what to expect from life at Colorado Christian."

Tessa has been out most of the 2023 season with an injury, but no one doubts how much she will do and contribute to the team when she gets back on the field. Tessa has what it takes to be a true Colorado Christian Cougar with grit, determination, and fearlessness as you can tell from her story beyond her jersey.
