LAKEWOOD, CO- Anna Mettler is a freshman on the Colorado Christian University women's golf team. She has made quite an impact this year, traveling to all five tournaments the team competed in for the fall Season. During the RJGA Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona Anna shot a 71 as she tied for 22
nd out of 70 competitors, which serves as just one example of her increasing talent.Â

The story of Anna 's golf career began with her dad. She grew up in a very athletic family, with every member competing at the collegiate level at some point. Her parents, as well as all of her siblings, are runners, but running was not a part of Anna's story as golf would soon become her passion. With her dad's love of golf, Anna quickly became a part of it. Anna joked that "he wanted an excuse to play golf more," so he was eager to get her started. Mettler's passion for golf did not begin right away, but once she gave it a try for her dad, the joy of golf was no longer just his but both of theirs. Her golf career began in 8th grade, but her freshman year in high school was where it truly grew into something she wanted to pursue.Â

Beyond her golf career, Anna's story doesn't stop there. She is currently a nursing major here at Colorado Christian University and it definitely keeps her busy as she has always had a desire to go into the medical field. Anna loved the science-focused classes she took in high school and did very well in them, so a nursing major quickly became a great option as well as the perfect fit. Caring for people and helping them get well is something she is very passionate about and wants to dedicate her life to as Anna's heart has always been to serve the sick and hurting people around her. Anna is interested in potentially becoming an ER, ICU, or pediatrics nurse but is waiting on the Lord's guidance to choose which field she will go into.Â

Along with being a dedicated student athlete, Anna also has type 1 diabetes. Though it has come with its challenges, she speaks to how it has grown her faith. "At the beginning," Anna explains, "I was questioning why I had this. There was doubt at first, but I have grown a lot as a person." She speaks of how she has seen God's faithfulness in the midst of it and is looking forward to sharing her journey with her medical history to help others and encourage them. Anna's story is one of grit, faith, and perseverance while choosing to serve the Lord through it all.Â
