LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian are set for two road games this weekend, but both are not a far drive from the Cougars campus. They will travel to Colorado School of Mines in nearby Golden on Friday, followed by a Saturday tilt at MSU Denver.
The Orediggers are coming off an upset at the hands of Colorado Mesa in their last contest, but they still sit atop the RMAC standings and are ranked #18 in the country. The two teams matched up on New Years Day, and Mines was able to pull away in the second half for a victory at the CCU Event Center. Ashley Steffeck leads the team with 13.8 points per game, while Megan Van de Graaf puts up 12.9 ppg. Sammy Van Sickle helps the effort with 7.5 rebounds per contest, and Van de Graaf snags 5.7 a game. Van Sickle dishes out 3.8 assists per game, while Steffeck facilitates with 2.9 apg. The Orediggers will be looking to get back on track with a win on their home court on Friday.Â
The Roadrunners are having a solid year, sitting at 10-8 and sixth in the conference currently. The two teams played earlier this year in Lakewood in preseason play, and Metro came away with a narrow 67-61 victory back in November. A lot has happened since then, and MSUD will be looking to improve their RMAC standing in Denver on Saturday. Kendra Parra leads the effort on offense with a strong 18.7 points per game, and Mikylah Espinosa puts up 8.8 ppg. Parra leads on the boards as well, snagging 6.2 a game, while Miza Gilberto averages 5.9 rpg. Jaiden Galloway dishes out 4.2 assists a contest, followed by Parra with 1.9. The Roadrunners have two teams right behind them at 9-9, and will look to keep their spot in sixth with a win this weekend.Â
The Cougars had a tough road-trip last weekend, and will be looking to bounce back with a pair of games closer to home. Maggie Phipps continues to score points at a high clip, averaging 12.9 a game, and Dasiya Jones puts up 9.9 per contest. Agnes Paul leads on the glass with 7.3 rebounds per game, while Maggie Hutka averages 5.6. Nicole Bowlin continues to pace the team with 3.6 assists per game, followed by Victoria Perez at 3.3. CCU is intent on finishing the year strong with four games left to play, starting with a pair of challenges in the Denver area.Â
