LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars fell short in the first half of the home opener against Augustana University on Saturday to a talented Vikings squad.
GAME ONE
The Vikings gained the advantage in the second with a four-run inning, but CCU brought back a run in the fifth to make it 4-1. Augustana continued their offensive pressure, pulling away with a pair of three-run shots. An RBI double from Jordan Medina and triple from Bage Ramos gave the Cougars a pair in the eighth, but the Vikings closed out the 11-3 victory ultimately.Â
GAME TWO
The Cougars struggled to get their bats working again in game two, ending the game with only 1 hit and no runs to Augustana's 6 hits and 4 runs. The winning pitcher was Ryan Jares, who pitched a total of 69 pitches to clinch his team's victory. Saxton Sorenson was able to slow down the Augustana's bats from the first game, giving up 4 runs on a few tough breaks but looking strong throughout.Â
Colorado Christian will close their series with Augustana with another home doubleheader on February 26 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. MST.
