LAKEWOOD, CO- Coming off a 1-1 week in an away-home series, the Cougars now hit the road for a pair of important matchups. CCU will head to CSU Pueblo on February 10, followed by a matchup at New Mexico Highlands on February 11.
The Thunderwolves visited Lakewood in December, taking down the Cougars 68-55. They will try to sweep the season series at home on Friday evening. Lian Romero leads the Pack, averaging 13 points a game, while Meekness Payne, Makiah Morris and Isaiah Thompson all average 11 ppg. Thompson leads his team in rebounds with nine a game, and Payne follows with 4.5. Moses Demalek facilitates well with 2.4 apg, followed by Romero at 2.1. CSUP is a game above CCU in the RMAC standings and will look to push for a tournament bid with a win Friday.
The Cowboys come into their matchup on Saturday night against CCU at ninth in the conference. They took down CCU in Lakewood in early December and will look to defend home court. Dante Moses puts up eye-popping numbers, averaging 23.4 points per game. Jalen Munn puts up 8. 3 ppg. Moses also leads in rebounds with 6.2 per contest, followed by Ezichi Kalu with 4.7 rpg. Jaylen Domina-Lovato and Moses each average 2.3 assists per game. NMHU will look to climb the RMAC standings and make a push towards the conference tournament.
CCU took care of business against Western Colorado at home this past Saturday, and they will look to continue their winning ways with a pair of road matchups in Colorado and New Mexico. DJ McDonald dropped 27 points against WCU, and he leads the team with 14.1 points per game. Jason Gallant is close behind with 13.5 a contest. Isaiah Alonzo is big on the boards, pulling down 7.1 rebounds per game, while Maro Egodotaye secures 4.5 a contest. Gallant and McDonald help the team out with their ability to effectively spread the ball out, averaging 3.1 and 2.6 assists per game respectively. Colorado Christian has an opportunity to climb the tightly contested RMAC standings as the last few weeks of conference play arrive, and they will look to kickstart their push with two wins on the road this weekend.
