DENVER, CO- Colorado CHristian took on #20 MSU Denver to close their series on Sunday with another doubleheader in Denver. The Roadrunners used early offense to capture control on their way to a pair of wins over CCU.
GAME ONE
MSUD came out firing offensively, scoring seven in the first and six more in the third inning to grab a commanding lead. The Cougars answered in the fourth as Russel Cruz launched a grand slam over the left center field wall to narrow the gap. However, two more runs from the hosts in the fifth put them up big, and late RBI from Caden Walton and Jordan Medina closed out the scoring in a 15-6 defeat.Â
Robby Caro took the loss on the mound, while Cole Kennedy and A.J. Perez saw action. Cruz led the offense with his four bagger with the bases loaded.Â
GAME TWO,
MSUD jumped ahead early again in the second contest, scoring the first four runs of the game. Frankie Shearn brought back a run with a sacrifice fly in the third, but the Roadrunners came back with four more runs in the fourth. A Boedy Flores single in the sixth plated Medina, but they could not male the comeback in a 12-2 defeat.
Saxton Sorenson put in 3.2 innings of work, while JC Watne and Chaz Graham worked out of the bullpen the rest of the way. Shearn and Flores each added an RBI to their totals in the game.Â
Colorado Christian will stay local while still being on the road, taking on Regis on April 28 at 2 p.m. MST.
