LAKEWOOD, CO- For the second consecutive year, Larry Hays has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Hays has followed up a 49 win season with 52 this year with more to come in his fifth season with the Cougars. Under his guidance, the program reached their longest win streak in program history at 34, and they clinched the regular season title with three weeks to go. Their dominance has come as a result of the excellent recruiting and coaching done by Hays as he continues to improve the program year in and year out.
"Coach Hays has done a remarkable job recruiting such high quality athletes, and has led them to perform at a high level of competitive excellence on the field," said Athletic Director Brian Wall. "Additionally, Coach Hays has built a strong spiritual and relational culture within this team. He is absolutely deserving of this RMAC Coach of the Year Honor.
CCU softball would not be where it is today without Coach Hays, and he leads his team with a confidence and knowledge of the game that you will find hard to top. As a result, his team currently sits at #8 in the nation in the latest NFCA poll, their highest ranking in program history.
Congratulations to Coach Hays on a wonderful season and the well deserved honor of RMAC Coach of the Year!
