LAKEWOOD, CO- Senior softball player, Kenzie Middleton continues to make history and leave a legacy that will inspire future athletes who are following in her footsteps. 

 Sportswomen of Colorado, a community-based organization that supports and honors female athletes for their achievements and advancements, announced today that Kenzie Middleton will be receiving one of their prestigious awards as well as becoming the first athlete in CCU history to be named a 2023 Sportswoman of Colorado Honoree. This award honors the past, present, and future achievements of female athletes, coaches, and contributors to female athletics in Colorado. This year's winners feature a range of sports and include 40 female nominees from a wide variety of Olympians, top college and high school athletes, coaches, to championship teams. 


In previous years, Sportswomen of the Year winners have included Mikaela Shiffrin, Emma Coburn, Jenny Simpson, Missy Franklin, Jennifer Kupcho and many others. To be selected for this award, one must reach accomplishments that set them apart. Accomplishments that go beyond the average athlete and portray a character of determination, discipline, motivation, and a heart for the sport and teammates who help get you there. 

 
Kenzie has done just that as she has left her mark both on and off the field. Just last year, she was named an All American from two softball associations including the NFCA and D2CCA as well as an Academic All American from the CSC. Her other awards range from First Team All-Region, South Central Region Player of the Year, RMAC Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, Academic All District Team, and RMAC Academic First Team. She also holds numerous school records and will continue to seek more in her final season at CCU. These accomplishments speak volumes about the grit, perseverance, hard work, and passion that Kenzie has shown in everything she does.

Kenzie will be awarded on March 17th as a 2023 Softball Sportswomen of Colorado Honoree along with the chance to be named Sportswoman of the Year which will be presented to Colorado's most outstanding athlete based on her 2023 achievements.
