COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- The Cougars closed 2024 at the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi on Friday and Saturday. After two days of competition, CCU has gained some momentum to build on into the New Year after some strong results.
Elana Sutton got things started as she competed in the pentathlon. Her best result came in the shot put as she claimed third with a throw of 10.23m. Other events included the 60 meter hurdles, the high jump, the long jump and the 800m. Sutton finished with a score of 1589 overall.
Hannah Zugich continued in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.82.
Madeline Schmeling and
Catie Fairfield competed in the 60m dash, posting times of 8.53 and 8.63 respectively.
Brooke Connolly claimed fourth in the 800m, running a 2:40.67.
Kaylie Bookout ran well in the 3000m, claiming fourth with a time of 11:24.42.
Lorelei Daugherty followed close behind with an 11:36.18.
Kara Krulick and
Alayna Wallace posted times of 11:44.56 and 11:48.39, while
Madison Burkholder ran a time of 11:57.27.
Sarah Hamlin posted a 12:06.65 to close the race.
Ava Maginity took home a victory in the mile with a run of 5:21.80. Daugherty closed with a time of 5:49.24 in the event. Zugich and
Laken Meier participated in the 200m dash, recording times of 28.32 and 28.42.
Ashley Vil took part in the long jump with a mark of 4.99m while Meier posted 4.65m. Vil was stellar in the triple jump as well as she posted a mark of 11.22m.
Jacob Dymond and
Peyton Paul ran in the 60m, recording times of 7.47 and 7.75.
Tara Smoker was stellar in the 400m, taking third place with a time of 59.52.
Jathan Rentfrow took part in the 400m, posting a time of 56.09.
Tyler Schwarz was strong in the 800m, running to fifth place with a 2:00.48.
Michael Mote was just behind him in sixth with a 2:00.76.
Jacob Marker and
David Jaquez ran times of 2:10.00 and 2:12.85 respectively.
Isaac Roberts took fourth in the 3000m with a strong run of 9:01.33.
Clayton Ackley ran a 9:06.78, and
Mathew Olech posted a 9:19.18.
Evan McClinton posted a 9:23.97 while
Nico Ramirez ran a 9:29.43.
Roberts took third in the mile with a run of 4:31.97, and Schwarz was close behind in fourth with a 4:34.27. McClinton posted a 4:34.41 while Ackley ran a 4:41.13. Ramirez and
Drew Stilson ran times of 4:48.67 and 4:49.79 while Mote posted a 4:53.29.
Jonah Beard blazed his way to a time of 24.01 in the 200m, followed by a 24.98 from Dymond and runs of 25:35 and 25:73 from Rentfrow and Paul.
Caleb Hershey won the 5000m, claiming the victory with a time of 15:43.76.
Colorado Christian closed 2024 and will now prepare for their next meet in 2025 on January 25 at the Colorado Running Company UCCS Invite in Colorado Springs.
