GOLDEN, CO/ BOSTON, MA- The Indoor Track & Field season got underway as the Cougars sent athletes to the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston and the Alumni Classic at Mines. The team started strong as they showed the depth of their talent with a plethora of strong results. 
The women began as 
Kate Miller ran in the mile in Boston with a stellar time of 5:04.01. Miller also took part in the 800m, posting a run of 2:17.33 in the competitive event. 
Shannon King continued in the 5000m as she posted a time of 16:56.68 to start the season. 
Meanwhile, a large portion of the team competed in Golden at the Alumni Classic. 
Tara Smoker started off in the 60m with a run of 8.06. 
Madeline Schmeling and 
Laken Meier ran times of 8.40 and 8.42 respectively, while 
Catie Fairfield posted an 8.68. In the mile, it was a dominant effort from the Cougars as they finished in the first seven spots. 
Ava Maginity led the way in first with a 5:22.33. 
Alayna Wallace and 
Lorelei Daugherty followed in quick succession with times of 5:45.50 and 5:46.69. 
Sarah Hamlin ran a 5:47.34 while 
Kara Krulick ran a 5:48.46. 
Kaylie Bookout posted a 5:48.96, and 
Madison Burkholder ran a 5:48.97. 
Brooke Connolly ran a 6:04.02 to close the mile. 
Hannah Zugich continued in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.96 seconds. In the high jump, 
Elana Sutton leaped to a height of 1.50m. Meier competed in the long jump, and posted a mark of 4.63m. 
Ashley Vil took part in the triple jump, claiming third with a distance of 11.19m. 
Hudson Majeski headed to Boston and took part in the mile, and he ran well with a time of 4:12.83. Majeski also took part in the 3000m, racing his way to a time of 8:23.08. Fresh off a fourth place finish at cross country Nationals, 
Matthew Storer competed against top competition in the 5000m on his way to a 14:13.24.  
At the Alumni Classic, 
Jonah Beard and 
Jathan Rentfrow posted times of 7.33 and 7.64 respectively. 
Peyton Paul posted a time of 7.88 to close the race. In the 800m, 
Jacob Marker ran a 2:06.61. The mile saw a number of Cougars competing as 
Tyler Schwarz ran a 4:29.81. 
Mathew Olech posted a 4:34.68, and 
Evan McClinton ran a 4:37.82. 
Tate Fletcher raced to a 4:41.28 while 
Michael Mote ran a 4:44.58. 
Drew Stilson posted a 4:49.33 while 
Nico Ramirez ran a 4:55.43. 
David Jaquez closed with a 5:07.83 in the mile. In the 5000m, 
Caleb Hershey ran a time of 15:43.85, and 
Clayton Ackley posted a 15:47.82. 
Isaac Roberts closed with a time of 15:49.21. 
After the strong start, the Cougars will look to close 2024 strong at the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi on December 13-14 in Colorado Springs.
