PUEBLO, CO- The Cougars took on their second meet of the Outdoor season at the Spank Blasing Invitational hosted by CSU Pueblo. The team looked good in their second outing, highlighted by a win in the 3000m steeplechase from
Alex Vance.
For the women,
Ashley Vil got things started in the triple jump on Friday.
Elana Sutton continued the field events on Saturday in the high jump, leaping 4'9". A plethora of Cougars took part in the 1500m, led by
Ava Maginity with a time of 4:52.38.
Benisa Ellis and
Callie Ketner followed closely with marks of 4:55.85and 4:57.02.
Nora Thompson ran a 5:07.03, and
Maleah Wardlaw and
Kaylie Bookout ran 5:16.54 and 5:22.52.
Beth Pierantoni and
Sarah Hamlin posted times of 5:26.31 and 5:26.46, while
Emma Flowers closed things out with a 5:50.08.
Hannah Zugich took part in the 100m hurdles, posting a time of 17.29. In the 400m,
Mikayla Jefferson and
Elizabeth Cochran ran times of 1:07.75 and 1:09.31.
Hannah George ran a 12.18 in the 100m, while
Madeline Schmeling posted a 13.26.
Michelle Burroughs ran the 800m in a time of 2:20.58, while
Brooke Connolly ran a 2:39.28. George posted a 25.48 in the 200m, and Zugich and Schmeling ran times of 27.76 and 28.03.
Alayna Wallace closed with a 31.02.
For the men,
Mateo Luna kicked things off in the 5000m, running a 15:09.29.
Alex Vance followed in the 3000m steeplechase, showing excellent skill by winning the event in a time of 9:07.78. A large group of Cougars took part in the 1500m, led by
Tate Fletcher with a run of 3:58.55.
Klay Grant ran a 4:02.83, while
Ethan Wampler posted a 4:05.16.
Isaac Roberts ran a 4:06.49, and
Jonathan Holloway posted a 4:11.85.
Jay Wood ran a 4:14.17, while
Kale Edmonds posted a 4:14.84.
Paul Gibas ran an 11.91 in the 100m, while
Mason Gansz ran a 1:56.42 in the 800m.
Michael Mote followed with a 2:01.51, while
Sam Schwarting posted a 2:02.34.
Jacob Marker closed the 800 with a 2:16.18. Gibas also ran the 200m, running a time of 24.14.
David Jaquez posted a 25.78, while
Jason Caven ran a 27.68.
CCU will be back in Pueblo March 30 as they compete in the CSU Pueblo Open Invitational.
