COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- The Cougars saw several strong performances this weekend as both teams traveled to UCCS for the second week of indoor. This meet will be the last of the year for the Cougars, now looking ahead to 2026.
Jacob Dymond and
Elana Sutton kicked off the meet for the Cougs, both competing in the Heptathlon and Pentathlon. Dymond ran/threw the following events in a strong performance: 60m: 7.32, 60mH: 9.31, 1,000 m: 3:29, Long Jump: 5.50m, Shot Put: 7.84. Sutton ran/threw the following as she continued to show her ability in the Pentathlon: 60mH: 10.82, 800: 3:13, High Jump: 1.52m, Long Jump 4.66m, Shot Put: 11.21m.
The sprinters continued the start to an exciting season, as
Josiah Weeda and
Ethan Nowakowski ran the 60mH, Weeda leading the hunt with a time of 8.48, as Nowakowski ran a 8.85.
Hannah Zugich and
Alison Smith followed suit for the women in the 60mH, Zugich running a 10.14 and Smith close behind running a 10.55.
Peter Junker soloed the 60m, running a time of 7.65.
Laken Meier also soloed the 60m, running a 8.14.
Allister McCasland showed his consistency in the 400, running a time of 53.94, a quarter of a second off of his season opener from Western.
Bella Fletcher ran a PR in the 400 with a time of 1:01, shining for the Cougars with a 5
th place finish.
Soleil Noyes and
Hannah Zugich followed running 1:04 and 1:05 respectively.
The men's 800 wrapped up Friday night for CCU, as
Tyler Schwarz,
Mason Gansz, and
Nico Ramirez each competed. Schwarz led the charge running a 1:59.69 as he continues his journey to qualify for RMAC.
Weeda opened up Saturday morning with the 60mH, running strong for a personal best of 8.53, improving by a tenth of a second from his opener in Gunnison.
The mile was a full event for the men, 10 different Cougars competing in the mile.

Isaac Roberts,
Clayton Ackley,
Drew Stilson,
Kale Edmonds,
Tate Fletcher,
Mason Gansz, and
Nico Ramirez all competed.
Zach Vance lead the charge with a strong race, running a 4:18 mile for a 2
nd place finish, converting to a blazing fast 4:07.5. This was a four second PR and enough to garner a National Provisional qualifying time.Â
Ethan Wampler and
Sam Schwarting had times to put them 3
rd and 5
th place, running 4:25 and 4:28 respectively.
Kate Miller garnered the first win for the Cougars, winning the women's mile with a time of 5:25.
Ava Ackley and
Catalina Schwab also competed in the mile, running 5:26 and 5:52 respectively. Â The Women's 5,000m was another strong event for the Cougars as Aly Wagner,
Nora Thompson, and
Maleah Wardlaw all ran the grueling 25 lap race. Aly Wagner led the way, running a PR with an 18:52.
The men's 200m saw three different Cougars race, as
Allister McCasland,
Ethan Nowakowski,
Josiah Weeda, and
Peter Junker continued their multi-event weekend. McCasland led the way for the Cougs with a 23.60 200m. The women were loaded for their 200m race, as
Bella Fletcher,
Laken Meier,
Hannah Zugich,
Sara Rutherford, and
Alison Smith all competed. Fletcher and Meier led the ladies with times of 27.21 and 27.28 respectively.
CCU will take a break, their next meet scheduled for January 23
rd at CU Boulder for the Colorado Invite, a historically strong meet for the Cougars.
