COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- Colorado Christian continued RMAC play on Saturday with a matchup on the road at UCCS. After the Mountain Lions built a big first half lead, CCU rallied to make things close before the hosts pulled away for a 74-47 victory.
Shaylen Woodberry put in the first points of the game for his team with a layup, and
Schafer Reichart and
Jacob Everson put in baskets to make it 8-6.
Bobby McWard splashed in a three-pointer while
Nathaniel Law got going with consecutive layups as UCCS led 27-15 with 9:35 left in the half.
Law got a jumper to fall, and Everson sank a pair of free throws.
Tate Odvody drilled a three-pointer to close the half with the Mountain Lions leading 38-22.
CCU began to mount a rally early in the second half as
Promise Idiaru put in a layup and Everson knocked down a three to tighten the gap. An Odvody jumper cut the gap to 12 points at 44-32, and a McWard three saw the lead trimmed to 11.
From there, the Mountain Lions took control of the game, surging ahead by 26 points with 5:16 to play.
Lincoln Cantrall nailed a three-pointer, and Idiaru slammed home a dunk.
Tanner Hecht converted a jumper, but in the end, UCCS came away with the victory by a final score of 74-47.
Everson and Idiaru each put in 9 points, while Odvody and McWard put in 7 and 6 points respectively.
The Cougars will continue their roadtrip with a visit to New Mexico Highlands on February 20 at 7 p.m. MST.
