TOPEKA, KS | BOSTON, MA- The Cougars closed the indoor regular season Friday and Saturday at the Ichabod Invitational in Kansas and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston. The team performed well with numerous strong results across the teams competing in the two meets.
Matthew Storer started things off in Boston on Friday, competing in the highly competitive 5000m. Storer competed well amongst DI competition, racing to an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time of 13:53.93 to put himself at 16th on the National List.Â
Over in Kansas,
Jathan Rentfrow took part in the 60m dash with a run of 7.55. In the 600 yard run,
David Jaquez finished with a time of 1:25.21.
Michael Mote ran a 1:59.79 in the 800m, while
Nico Ramirez and
Jacob Marker ran times of 2:03.95 and 2:04.25 in the same event.
Jeremy Miller was stellar in the mile, taking fifth place with a run of 4:12.24.
Mathew Olech ran a 4:25.63 in the same event, while
Kale Edmonds ran a 4:27.88.Â
In the 3000m,
Klay Grant ran an 8:30.79, and
Ethan Wampler posted an 8:32.78.
Evan McClinton ran an 8:42.00 while
Clayton Ackley and
Jay Wood ran times of 8:44.31 and 8:45.78 respectively.
Isaac Roberts posted a 9:09.93, and
Drew Stilson closed with a 9:29.10. Ackley also took part in the 5000m, taking 7th with a time of 15:03.83. Ramirez ran a 15:23.46 while Edmonds ran a 15:31.96. Olech finished with a 15:48.01 while Stilson had a 16:16.49. The combo of Roberts,
Jonah Beard, McClinton and
Sean McCauley took part in the Distance Medley Relay, claiming a fourth place finish with a time of 10:28.13. Â
For the women,
Kate Miller,
Tara Smoker,
Ava Maginity and
Shannon King all headed to Boston to compete together and as individuals. The four began Saturday morning in the Distance Medley relay, finishing with a time of 12:01.31 to claim 6th place overall. Smoker raced next as she participated in the 400m dash, running to a time of 59.281. The trio of King, Miller and Maginity came next in the mile. King posted an excellent result, flying to a 4:46.69 to put herself at 17th on the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time list. Maginity came next with a run of 5:08.62 while Miller closed with a 5:11.10.Â
At the Ichabod Invitational in Kansas,
Madeline Schmeling ran an 8.41 in the 60m dash to start things off. Leken Meier followed with an 8.48 in the same event.
Hannah Zugich ran a 1:03.56 in the 400m, while
Brooke Connolly posted a 2:29.96 in the 800m.
Emma Flowers ran a 2:41.55 in the same event. Connolly and
Rachel Harpt recorded times of 5:22.97 and 5:23.11 in the mile respectively.
Alayna Wallace ran a 5:28.75 while
Kara Krulick posted a 5:35.06.
Sarah Hamlin ran a 5:36.15, and
Madison Burkholder finished with a 5:38.13.
Kaylie Bookout closed with a 5:42.21.Â
In the 3000m run, Harpt led the way with a 10:47.97 followed by
Maleah Wardlaw with a 10:50.39.
Lorelei Daugherty posted a 10:57.48 to close the race. Wardlaw led her team in the 5000m, taking 8th with a time of 18:53.38.
Nora Thompson came next with a run of 18:58.34 while Daugherty ran a 19:01.79. Bookout posted a 19:03.43 while Burkholder and Krulick finished with times of 19:37.97 and 19:46.28 respectively.Â
Zugich competed in the 60m hurdles, finishing with a time of 10.41.
Elana Sutton took part in the high jump, leaping 1.45m.
Ashley Vil participated in the triple jump, posting a mark of 11.10m. Sutton closed things out in the shot put with a throw of 10.89m.Â
The team will now prepare for the Indoor RMAC Championships that will be hosted at UCCS February 28- March 1.Â
