GOLDEN, CO | AZUSA, CA | LA VERNE, CA- Track & field spread out this week across three meets, two in California and one in Colorado as they prepared for the upcoming RMAC Championships that will be held in Golden.
The women began on Thursday at the Mines Midweek #2 as part of a one day meet as
Madeline Schmeling ran a 13.53 in the 100m dash. Schmeling and
Laken Meier both ran in the 200m dash, posting times of 27.53 and 27.91 respectively. Seven different Cougars ran in the 1500m, with
Alysia Wagner leading the way with a time of 5:15.75.
Kara Krulick ran in the 5000m, posting a time of 22:13.54. Meier competed in the long jump, going 4.61m.
At the La Verne Leopard Invitational in California,
Maleah Wardlaw took part in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 18:36.29. Elsewhere in Southern California at the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational,
Tara Smoker posted a strong time of 58.21 in the 400m.
Ava Maginity ran in the 800m open, posting a time of 2:16.92.
Kate Miller ran in the 1500m open with a time of 4:38.05, and Maginity ran a 4:40.50 in the same event.
Shannon King ran in the 1500m invite, posting a time of 4:21.97.
Rachel Harpt also competed in the 1500m with a run of 4:59.29.
Lucy Pidek ran in the 5000m open with a time of 17:39.51. King took part in the 3000m steeplechase, throwing down a time of 10:37.61.
Ashley Vil took part in the triple jump, closing with a leap of 10.92m.
The men in Colorado began with
Jathan Rentfrow and
Jonah Beard in the 100m dash as they ran times of 11.37 and 11.60. Beard also took part in the 200m dash, running to a time of 22.96.
Jacob Marker ran in the 800m, posting a time of 2:09.94.
Drew Stilson and
Nico Ramirez ran in the 1500m with times of 4:28.66 and 4:32.62 respectively.
Kale Edmonds took part in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 16:56.41.
Jacob Dymond competed in the 110m hurdles with a run of 16.79.
Michael Mote ran at La Verne in the 800m, posting a strong time of 1:56.25.
Klay Grant was stellar in the 1500m, taking first place with a run of 3:50.94.
Tate Fletcher and
Clayton Ackley also competed in the 1500 with times of 4:00.92 and 4:03.05 respectively.
Sam Schwarting ran a 4:05.68 in the 1500m.
Over at Bryan Clay, Mote ran the 800m open with a time of 1:56.57. In the 5000m, Grant posted a time of 14:27.75 to take third place, and
Sean McCauley followed with a 14:32.20 for 10th place.
Caleb Hershey also ran in the 5k with a time of 14:45.16. Ackley, Schwarting and
Jay Wood ran times of 14:51.62, 14:56.26 and 14:58.46 respectively.
The team will now get ready for the RMAC Championships hosted in Golden by Mines April 25-27.
