BOULDER CITY, NV- The #1 team in the nation left no doubt at the RMAC Championships April 20-22, shooting a team record 54-hole score of -50 on their way to a dominant victory by 24 strokes.
Sangha Park led the way with a round two course record score of 62 as he set the three-round program record by going -17 to claim the individual title.
ROUND ONE
Park started what would be the best tournament of the season for him as he carded a 67 with five birdies and an eagle to vault to the top of the leaderboard.
Sungyeop Cho followed with a stellar 68 as he netted six birdies.
Peyton Jones was next with an excellent 69 as he sank four birdies and an eagle.
Adam Duncan shot an even par 72 with four birdies, while
Xavier Bighaus closed with a 73 on a pair of birdies.
ROUND TWO
With a few teams hanging close behind the Cougars after day one, CCU made sure that was not the case as they threw down a terrific second round. Park once again led the way as he set the course and tournament record with a 10-under 62 as he was on fire with eight birdies and an eagle. Cho once again went well under par with a 66 on six birdies and an eagle, and Duncan improved on day two with a 68 on five birdies. Both Jones and Bighaus carded 71s as they each had an eagle in the round.
ROUND THREE
It was yet another clinic in the third and final round of the tournament on Tuesday as the Cougars aimed to go 50 under par. Park did his part with a 70 as he set the 54-hole score program record by going 17 under par for the RMAC crown. Cho threw down a 68 on six birdies and an eagle as he claimed second place overall at the tournament. Four birdies and an eagle saw Duncan card a 67 as he claimed fifth place overall. Jones came right behind him with a 68 on six birdies to take home sixth place. Bighaus shot a final round 68 with six birdies of his own to finish in 11th place.
Overall the Cougars shot a record low 54-hole score of 814 (276, 267, 271) as they smashed their previous record of -37 with an incredible -50. Park won his second tournament while at CCU and set the program record with his -17 total, securing the Boulder Creek Golf Club course record with his round two 62.
CCU could not be playing better golf as they prepare for the West/South Central Regionals May 8-10 at Victoria Club in Riverside, CA.
