GOLDEN, CO- The Cougars competed at the nearby RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Mines Friday-Sunday in Golden. Led by strong performances from many upperclassmen competing in their final meet of their collegiate careers, CCU built momentum for the postseason and sent their seniors out well.
Kate Miller and
Ava Maginity ran in the 800m, posting times of 2:18.10 and 2:22.22 respectively. Miller, Maginity and
Rachel Harpt took part in the 1500m as well with Kate making it to the finals. The freshman ran a 5:24.67 to close the event.
Lorelei Daugherty took part in the 10k, running a time of 40:49.40 to close.
Hannah Zugich took part in the 400m hurdles, posting a time of 1:08.83.
Shannon King was excellent as always, running an 11:02.38 to claim fourth in the 3000m steeplechase.
Laken Meier,
Ashley Vil,
Madeline Schmeling and
Tara Smoker teamed up in the 4x100m relay, throwing down a time of 48.84. Meier also participated in the high jump with a leap of 4.48m. Vil closed with a stellar performance in the triple jump, posting a mark of 11.55m to claim sixth.
Elana Sutton took part in the heptathlon, earning 3012 points.
For the men,
Michael Mote led things off in the 800m with a run of 1:56.95.
Klay Grant and
Tate Fletcher ran in the 1500m, with times of 3:58.97 and 4:07.29. Grant qualified for the finals and posted a strong showing with a seventh place finish of 4:04.49.
Clayton Ackley and
Sam Schwarting both competed in the 5000m, running times of 15:45.16 and 15:50.25 respectively. The trio of
Jay Wood,
Sean McCauley and
Caleb Hershey participated in the 10k, running times of 31:40.14, 31:49.19 and 31:56.96.
Jacob Dymond ran in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.83.
Mathew Olech posted a time of 10:10.84 in the 3000m steeplechase, while
Colden Welsh ran a 10:33.36 in the event.
