LAKEWOOD, CO- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the bids to the women's golf NCAA West Regional on Monday, and after a strong season, the Cougars are one of 18 teams that will compete at the tournament in Texas.
Held May 5-7 at La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, the West Regional features some of the best teams in the country and will be an excellent opportunity for CCU to compete. The team is playing their best golf at the right time, most recently coming in second place at the RMAC Championships.
Makenna Brown earned medalist honors with a fifth place finish as the team performed at a high level in Nevada. Brown,
Raya Schulz,
Mary Beth Doss,
Kylee Hughes,
Anna Mettler and
Hannah Martin make up the talented squad that will head to Texas.
In her third season at the helm, Head Coach Ashlyn Kennedy has gotten the most out of her team and will be leading the team to Regionals for the second time. As a program, CCU has been to the regional tournament twice before this, with their highest finish coming in the 2021-2022 season as they claimed second led by two top 5 finishes to qualify for the National Championships. CCU will look to at least place in the top 5 and book another berth to the NCAA National Championships.
