LAKEWOOD, CO- The finalists for the NCAA Division II Jack Nicklaus Award presented by Workday were announced on Thursday, and following highly successful seasons that will be capped at the National Championships next week,
Sangha Park and
Adam Duncan have been named among the five golfers up for the award.
Both players are finalists for the second straight season as Park was on the list last year when he golfed at UTPB and Duncan was among the five last season as well. Leandro Mihaich of Oklahoma Christian, the reigning winner of the award, makes his second straight appearance and is joined by Seth Bearden from Midwestern State and Cooper Tendick from West Florida to round out the five finalists.
Duncan and Park are very worthy candidates for this award as they have displayed a high level of professionalism, excellence and consistency on the course this season. The #1 and #3 ranked golfers in the nation, both have a great shot at claiming this prestigious award and becoming the first CCU golfer in program history to bring home the honor.
Duncan has been on a tear his final collegiate season, claiming RMAC Player of the Year for the second straight year and receiving an All-Region nod. The senior has four tournament victories and 7 top 3 finishes as he boasts an incredible scoring average of 68.7. Recently selected to the prestigious Arnold Palmer Cup in June, Duncan will look to lead his team to a second consecutive National Championship later this month.
Sangha Park was awarded First Team All-RMAC and All-Region after a stellar season that saw him earn the #3 ranking in DII. Park has been consistent all year and has earned two tournament victories and 6 top 3 finishes. His recent overall score of -17 to win the RMAC Tournament set a program record, and he shot a course record 62 in round two in Nevada. The graduate student will look to help CCU win consecutive DII titles later this month.
The winner of the Jack Nicklaus Award will be announced by Nicklaus himself on June 1 at the annual Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
