Cougars Vault 4 Spots to #10 in Latest NFCA/GoRout Top 25 Poll

LAKEWOOD, CO- The latest NFCA/GoRout Top 25 Coaches Poll released on Tuesday, and after a sweep of Chadron State to push their win streak to 30 games, softball has vaulted four spots from last week to #10, their highest ranking all season.

The Cougars are rolling through conference play as they improved to 24-0 in the RMAC with a road sweep of Chadron State in Nebraska over the weekend. They currently hold a five-game lead over the second place team in the conference as their preseason ranking of #1 appears to be very justified. Coach Larry Hay's squad continued to hit the cover off the ball and pitch effectively, ranking in the top 10 nationally in a number of statistical categories.

CCU currently holds the top ranking in the nation for total hits with 392, and they hold the number 2 spot in slugging percentage, total sacrifice flies and win-loss percentage at 0.597, 25 and 0.944 respectively. Other marks in the top 10 include third in batting average at .375, third in RBI per game at 7.92, third in total RBI with 285 and third in scoring at a clip of 8.81 runs per game. The Cougars also sit third in total runs at 317 as they continue to power their way to victories each weekend.

The Cougars will look to match their all-time win streak record of 34 games this weekend when they host MSU Denver April 2-3 with game times set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. MDT both days.
