Cougars Jump Two More Spots to #7 in NFCA/GoRout DII Coaches Poll

LAKEWOOD, CO- The latest NFCA/GoRout DII Coaches Poll came out on Tuesday, and following a sweep on the road to set the program and RMAC win streak record, the Cougars moved up two more spots to #7.

CCU came through in the clutch several times on the road at Black Hills State, using several rallies to surge to a series sweep. Two of the games featured runaway victories in mercy-rule fashion, 13-4 and 11-1. The other two were tight contests that the Cougars fought to earn. Game two of the series was a low scoring 5-3 victory, and game three came down to the wire. The Cougars found themselves trailing 4-0 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth before three home runs in a row tied the game and carried them to an eventual 6-4 victory. The first game of the series ran their win streak this season to 35, breaking a program record set in 2023. The final victory of the series made it 38 in a row, a new RMAC record previously held by Colorado Mesa's 2018 squad with 37.

The Cougars lead the nation in hits (482), total runs (383), and win-loss percentage (0.955). They currently sit second in double plays (24), RBI per game (7.80), total RBI (343), slugging percentage (0.614) and total sacrifice flies (27).

Sitting at 32-0 in conference action and 42-2 overall, the Cougars will look to keep their win streak alive when they visit RMAC foe Colorado Mesa April 18-19.
