Cougars Take Final Hacks

CHANDLER, AZ – While it wasn't the season that anyone envisioned at the start, there was momentum built as the 2018-19 campaign closed out.

Colorado Christian closed out the season with a sixth place finish at the RMAC Championships at the Ocotillo Golf Resort.

The Cougars fired a three-round total of 861 (+8) to finish one shot behind Westminster. Colorado School of Mines won the event for the second straight season with a three-round total of 826 (-26). They held off RMAC newcomer Dixie State by one stroke.

ROUND ONE RECAP: An eight-birdie effort from Chase Carlson help put him in the 18-hole lead. The junior fired his best collegiate round of the season as he carded a 65 (-6). After the opening round he held a one stroke lead.

As a team the Cougars carded a 291 (+7) to put them in sixth place. Colorado School of Mines held the team lead with a 277 (-6).

Luke Doss was the squad's second best performer with a one-over par 71. Doss registered four birdies as he found himself tied for 16th entering the final two rounds. Nolan Backman tallied a 76 (+5) while Noah Woolsey notched a 78 (+7).

Sam Nolley rounded out the competitors for the Cougars by carding an 81 (+10).

ROUND TWO RECAP: Carlson stayed in contention for individual medalist honors as he shot an even par 71. He had five birdies with five bogeys during his round which put him two shots behind the leader.

As a team the Cougars stayed in sixth place by shooting a 286 (+2).

Sam Nolley also posted an even par round with two birdies and two bogeys. Woolsey and Backman each notched rounds of 72 (+1). Woolsey tallied four birdies and four bogeys. Backman had two birdies and three bogeys on the front nine before tallying nine straight pars to complete his round.

Luke Doss registered a 77 (+6) to round out the competitors for the Cougars.

ROUND THREE RECAP: The season's final round saw the Cougars post their second best 18-hole effort of the year with a 284 (E).

Nolan Backman concluded his season with a two-under par 69. He notched four birdies, three of which came on the back nine, and two bogeys.

Carlson and Doss each fired even-par rounds. Carlson posted two birdies and two bogeys during the round as he finished six-under par to place fifth. Doss had three birdies and three bogeys on the final day.

Woolsey carded a final round 73 (+2) while Nolley registered a 76 (+5) to round out the Colorado Christian competitors.
