LAKEWOOD, CO – After a record setting 2019, the Colorado Christian women's cross country team is set to continue that momentum as the upcoming campaign is mere weeks away from starting.
The RMAC released its preseason coaches poll and picked the program to finish fifth in the league. It is the best preseason ranking the program has ever earned. Of note, the conference usually has 15 teams competing but CSU Pueblo and Regis have decided to opt out of the season due to the concerns surrounding the COVID-19 health pandemic.
Last season the Cougars put three runners into the all-region category as they finished fifth at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships. The squad, which was ranked in the national top 25, just missed out on an at-large berth into the National Championship race.
Despite having a shorten season due to the current health pandemic, the Cougars are slated to compete in three races in 2020 culminating with the RMAC Championships on Oct. 24 in Colorado Springs. The team begins the season on a similar course when the travel to the Colorado Springs Cross Country Open on Friday, Sept. 18.
