LAS VEGAS, NM- The Cougars headed to New Mexico as they competed at the RMAC Championships at the Gene Torres Golf Course on Saturday. The teams ran hard as the men claimed ninth while the women came in 11th.
The men started the morning out in the 8k race, and
Jay Wood paced his team with a run of 25:40.89.
Colden Welsh came next as he posted a time of 26:00.66 while
Clayton Ackley ran a 26:10.25.
Isaac Roberts finished with a time of 26:18.93, and
Evan McClinton ran a 26:24.04.
Mathew Olech finished with a run of 26:27.32, and
Drew Stilson closed with a 27:16.08. The team finished with a total of 264 points, good for a solid ninth place finish out of the 15 teams competing in New Mexico.
The women came next as they competed in the 6k.
Lorelei Daugherty led the Cougars with a run of 22:47.78, and
Nora Thompson finished close behind with a 22:50.71.
Kaylie Bookout was closely following as she ran a 22:52.99 while
Maleah Wardlaw posted a time of 23:13.64.
Alayna Wallace ran a 23:27.95, and
Sarah Hamlin ran a 23:44.91.
Kara Krulick finished with a run of 24:31.19 to close the race. CCU finished with a total of 327 to claim 11th of the 15 teams in competition.
The Cougars will now prepare for the upcoming South Central Regionals that will take place on November 9 at nearby Washing Park in Denver.
