LAKEWOOD, CO- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced their women's cross country academic awards on Thursday, and after an excellent year of running and in the classroom,
Shannon King has earned the honor of Academic Athlete of the Year.
King continues to be an excellent example of what a student-athlete looks like, reaching new heights in her sport while maintaining a 4.00 Grade Point Average. Shannon is currently working towards her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and already holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. While earning her undergraduate degree, King maintained a 4.0 gpa and has continued to hold the perfect mark while working towards her masters. This season was King's best yet as she earned her first All-American honor in cross country with a 25th place finish in California. A native of nearby Arvada, Colorado, King has been excelling in her sport and in her studies for a long time, and she has been recognized by the conference for her tremendous efforts.
