GOLDEN, CO – Despite not competing its regular line-up of runners, the Colorado Christian men's cross county team still put together a quality effort as the postseason began.

The Cougars placed seventh at the RMAC Championships on Saturday morning. It is the second best finish for the program at the conference's championship event.

A vast majority of the squad's regular scoring competitors did not compete as they prepare for the NCAA postseason races.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Freshmen Matthew Olech put together his best race of his collegiate tenure as he clipped the finish line tape in 26:27.5. He finished 36th overall and was just 13 seconds away from an all-conference placing.

Kyle Gee was the team's second scorer as he registered a time of 26:37.1 to finished 40th. The duo of Luke Meyer (26:48.3) and Hudson Majeski (25:52.2) were the third and fourth scorers respectively for the Cougars. Meyer placed 45th with Majeski tallying a 46th place finish.

Chase Bracher was the fifth, and final, scoring runner for the program as he completed the 8K course in 27:11.2

RACE NOTES

• Colorado School of Mines won the event with 28 points; Adams State (47) placed second
• Dillon Powell, from Colorado School of Mines, won the event with a time of 24:07.2
• The race featured five nationally ranked teams
