Cougars Give Opportunity at RMAC Championships

GOLDEN, CO – Saturday morning was about an opportunity.

As the women's cross country team lined-up at the start for the 2021 RMAC Championships, the program gave opportunity to a group of runners that normally doesn't factor into the scoring.

Colorado Christian finished 13th at the league's championship event. The Cougars rested their regular scorers as they look towards the NCAA South Central Regional Championships in two weeks.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Kenzie Hartwig was the Cougars top finisher as she completed the 6K course in 24:58.6. She finished in the 65th position.

Callie Ketner was the squad's second finisher as she placed 74th overall in a time of 25:29.7. Ana Muehlbauer tallied a time of 25:58.2 as the team's third scoring runner with Benisa Ellis (25:59) just over her shoulder. The duo placed 85th and 86th respectively.

Sarah Hamlin scored points for the team as the fifth Colorado Christian runner to cross the finish line. She completed the course in 26:35.7

RACE NOTES

  • It was hosted at Applewood Golf Course
  • Adams State won the team title with 40 points; Colorado School of Mines was second (71)
  • Brianna Robles won the individual title with a time of 21:18.4

UP NEXT: The Cougars drive south to Lubbock, TX for the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championships.
