DENVER, CO – A comeback highlighted the second, and final, day of a four-game series against Regis.
Colorado Christian overcame an early deficit in the opener in Thursday's doubleheader before falling in the second game.
Regis won three contests in the four-game set.
Game One – Colorado Christian 11, Regis 10
The Cougars found themselves in a 5-1 deficit after three innings, but a persistent squad chipped away at their deficit. Colorado Christian scored a single run in the fourth then two more in the fifth stanza on a Jordan Medina base knock.
Regis got a run back in their half of the fifth inning but the Cougars continued to press. The team's traded runs again in the sixth inning before Colorado Christian took the lead. Down 6-4, Tommy Orr tied the game with a two-run single to rightfield. The visitors took the lead for good on a Wyatt Crenshaw two-run homerun. The went ahead 11-7 on Connor Marschall two-run single.
In the eighth frame the Rangers made things interesting with three runs to pull within 11-10. However, JC Watne earned the save when he set down Regis three straight.
Media had a team high three hits with three runs scored and his two RBI to help pace the offense. Marschall and Orr both drove-in three runs while Mattey also scored three runs
Tyler Henning earned the win after 2.1 innings of relief.
Game Two – Regis 11, Colorado Christian 1
Regis scored two runs in each of the first three innings and held Colorado Christian to five hits to secure the series win.
The home team banged out 11 hits led by Brevin Owen's three hits performance.
Blake Mattey scored the Cougars lone run in the sixth inning.
UP NEXT: The Cougars will take several days off before playing MSU Denver and CSU Pueblo two games each the weekend March 26-28. All games in that series will be played at MSU Denver.
