Series Schedule

The Cougars and Cowboys will play a two-day, four-game series with each day scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The first game each day will be nine innings followed by a seven inning contest.

The Recap Against Northern Colorado

After the Cougars had to cancel their season opening trip to Oklahoma, they scheduled Northern Colorado for a four-game set. Ultimately the series ended up being a unique three-games series. The first game went a Colorado Christian school record 15 innings with the Cougars prevailing 9-8. The second game was suppose to be a seven-inning game but darkness caused the game to end after five innings with Northern Colorado prevailing 5-1. The Sunday, Feb. 21 doubleheader turned into a single game because of snow. It was scheduled for nine innings but high scoring game featured long innings and was called after seven innings and 3:34 darkness ended the game with the Bears winning 17-10.

Early Stat Leaders

The Cougar outfied duo of Tommy Orr (.455) and Frankie Shearn III (.400) lead the team in batting average. Wyatt Crenshaw (.385) is just behind them as he tied with Orr for the team lead with five hits. Jordan Medina and Sam Gallegos each have four hits with Gallegos popping a team best two homeruns.

On top of the bump, the Cougar relievers are proving to be quite valuable. Tyler Henning (2.0 innings), Jarrod Rivera (4.0) and JC Watne (2.0) have not allowed a run with Watne earning the win against Northern Colorado. Among starter, Kylar Riordan has thrown a team best six innings while Devin Sutorius striking out seven in his four innings of work.

RMAC Coaches Poll

The preseason RMAC coaches poll picked the Cougars to finish seventh in the nine-team conference. Colorado Mesa was picked to win the league as they received eight of the possible nine first-place votes. Colorado School of Mines was selected second, garnering the other first-place vote.

Head Coach - Paul Koss

The 2020-21 season will be the first full season as head coach for Koss.

Paul Koss was named the school's full-time baseball coach on March 19, 2020. He was serving as the interim head coach for just over four months prior. He has been with the program since the 2017 season, serving as the squad's pitching coach before being elevated to the program's leader.

Originally from California, Koss played baseball at Orange Lutheran High School, where he then went on to play at the University of Southern California.

After four years of playing at USC he was selected in the 11th round of the 2007 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He played for the organization for four seasons, reaching the AA level. Koss recorded 20 saves and 140 strikeouts as a reliever in his four Minor League Baseball seasons. He was a single-A All-Star while playing in the California League in 2008.

In his playing career at USC he was the closer for three years ending his career second all-time in career saves, single season saves and appearances for the Trojans. This lead to playing for the Chatham A's in the Cape Cod league and earning a spot on the All-Star team in 2006 and received pitcher of the year honors.
