LAKEWOOD, CO – The Cougars women's golf program is excited to announce the addition of Michaela Cox to its roster for the 2021-22 season.
The native of Greensboro, N.C. comes to Colorado Christian as a graduate transfer after playing her undergraduate days at NCAA Division I Elon University. Cox served as a team captain for one season and was a four-time varsity letterman for the Phoenix.
"Michaela is a great fit for our program! She loves the Lord, is crazy competitive, and is a great student. So glad we get her for two years as a grad transfer," said head coach Phil Nelson. "She's got such a high work ethic and her athleticism will allow her to keep developing at quick rate. Her short game and touch around the greens is fantastic. I am confident she will come right in and boost the competitiveness of our team."
Outside of her collegiate experiences, she won numerous Club titles in during the summer of 2020 and competed in the South Carolina Women's Open. In 2019 she posted a top 10 finish at the Carolina's Young Amateur championships. At the 2018 Carolina's Women's Match Play she won her flight.
Cox plans on pursuing her graduate degree in Criminal Justice. She comes from an athletic family as her cousins Lydia and Olivia and uncle Joel were collegiate athletes in their respective sports.
