PUEBLO, CO- The Cougars continued the spring season March 21-22 at the Southern Colorado Open at Walking Stick Golf Course. A strong team effort saw CCU tie for third among several ranked teams in a quality showing in their second to last tournament before the RMAC Championships.
ROUND ONE
Kylee Hughes led off the first round with a 73 to pace her team, and
Makenna Brown followed with a 76.
Raya Schulz carded a 78 and
Kendall Simms shot a 79.
Anna Mettler closed the starting lineup out with an 87.
Hannah Martin competed as an individual at the tournament, shooting a first round 81.
ROUND TWO
Brown closed in excellent fashion on day two, firing a below par round of 70 with seven birdies as she closed in fifth place overall. Schulz fired three birdies on her way to a 75 and a tie for 20th. Hughes closed with an 80 as she tied her teammate for 20th. Simms shot a 76 as she claimed 27th, while Mettler finished with an 80 for 68th.
Martin posted a final round 83 to close in 60th.
Overall, the Cougars shot a 607 (306, 301) to claim a tie for third at the tournament.
Colorado Christian will have their final tuneup before the RMAC Championships when they play at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Arizona at Palm Valley Golf Course.
